SUMMARY:Grand Opening!  The James M. Cowley Community Playground
DESCRIPTION:Rockfish Valley Community Center will celebrate the completion 
 of its newly expanded James M. Cowley Community Playground with a celebrat
 ion and dedication ceremony on Sunday\, May 5\, 2024\, between 3:00 and 5:
 00 pm.\n\nThe event marks the latest installment of a series of recreation
 al and other improvements completed at RVCC over the past several years\, 
 including last year’s expansion of its solar energy production system an
 d relocation and expansion of the SK8 Nelson skatepark\, the completion of
  the mobile stage of the Blue Mountain Pavilion entertainment complex in 2
 022\, and the installation of the Center’s new wildflower meadow in part
 nership with the Nelson County Master Gardeners\, which will debut later t
 his spring.\n\nThe new playground is named for long-time RVCC supporter Ji
 m Cowley\, who has been instrumental in arranging foundation support for b
 oth the playground and skatepark projects.  Finishing touches are now bei
 ng placed on the playground features\, which include a multi-level climbin
 g and sliding complex\, new swing sets\, musical play features\, a play tu
 nnel with bridge\, and more.\n\nThe dedication ceremony will include unvei
 ling of the playground welcome sign\, light refreshments\, face-painting f
 or kids\, and remarks acknowledging the contributions of Cowley and the ma
 ny other contributors and volunteers who have made the new facility possib
 le.
