Last year’s Care Fair in Afton was a tremendous success, drawing over 175 attendees and featuring more than 30 local organizations and professionals dedicated to serving seniors, families, and caregivers in Nelson County. Organizers anticipate this year’s event will be equally impactful.
What is the Care Fair and who will be there?
The Care Fair is free and open to the public, designed to empower seniors to discover community resources and gain insights into aging issues, including healthcare and legal matters. The Blue Ridge Medical Center will offer a mobile clinic providing free COVID-19 and flu vaccines for individuals with an insurance card. Presentations will include:
“Finding the Right Fit: Selecting a Long-Term Residence” by Tamar Goodale, Long-Term Care Ombudsman of JABA
“Brain Health Strategies to Prevent and Slow Cognitive Decline” by Dr. Virginia Gallagher, PhD, Neuropsychologist, UVA
“Proactive Legal Planning for Virginia Seniors: Safeguarding Your Wishes, Your Wealth, and Your Well-being” by Vincent Prior of Norton Health Law
Additionally, over 30 local organizations and professionals serving seniors in Nelson County will be in attendance.
