The Path to Pickleball
It’s been a long time coming–but we are finally able to launch the public fundraising campaign for our last major recreational project: The Path to Pickleball!
In 2025, we plan to construct two pickleball courts, complete the second half of the paved path that encircles our grounds, and add 3 all-weather exercise stations.

Good news: We have already received a total of $24,500 from the Schaeneman Foundation, the BamaWorks Foundation of the Dave Matthews Band, The Nelson County Community Fund, and the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge.
More good news: we have just received an incredibly generous matching grant of $30,000 from the Perry Foundation–but we must raise $30,000 from our community in order to receive that $30,000 grant.
Under ordinary circumstances, we are careful to plan our fundraising campaigns so that they do not coincide with our Annual Fund & Membership Drive. However, we could not start public fundraising for this project until we received formal approval from the Perry Foundation, which did not arrive until October 10. Had we launched this fundraiser earlier in the year, we would not have been able to take advantage of the Perry matching grant–because only the donations made after the matching grant is offered can count toward the match.
The last thing we ever want to do is hit you up for money for a special project like this, and then turn around and hit you up again one month later with our Annual Fund & Membership Drive. But this is the unfortunate timing we’re facing. A pickleballer might even call this “No Man’s Land.”
We’re choosing to call it a Cookie–an easy shot you should happily enjoy!
