Rockfish Valley Community Center is proud to announce the establishment of our Gateway Scholarship Fund, offering Nelson County High School students the opportunity to earn significant scholarship support to help finance advanced education or career training – specifically for individuals who have put their commitment to our community into practice.
We hope you’ll take this opportunity to support the educational goals of our community-minded youth by contributing to the Fund.
The Gateway Scholarship is unlike any other educational grant available to NCHS students.
To qualify for this $5,000 award, a student must design, implement and successfully complete a project that serves a significant community need, advised and assisted by our Scholarship Committee. Successful applicants will receive a $250 cash award, a development grant of up to $1,000 to complete the project, and a $5,000 scholarship paid directly to the institution that they will attend. The scholarship is available to fund post-secondary education in certified 4-year or 2-year colleges or vocational training institutions.
Scholarships will be paid through the Gateway Scholarship Fund, which will be financed by private donations from supporters like you, gifts from local businesses and foundation grants. We are now seeking to raise funds for the 2025 scholarship year, in which we plan to award two scholarships, and we are pleased to report that over $2,000 has been committed to date.
While RVCC has, for many years, held the promotion of educational opportunities as one of its core missions, we have historically served that mission through offering occasional classes and seminars of public interest, and by offering the use of our “Rockfish University” seminar space to the public for similar programming. We are very excited to expand our mission by helping deserving, community-spirited Nelson County youths to fulfill their educational dreams.
