Rockfish Valley Community Center, a vibrant nonprofit serving Nelson County since 2000, is seeking a Chief Operations Officer to maintain the daily operations of a busy and thriving community center. The COO’s responsibilities span all aspects of facility management, to include office functions, building management, tenant relations, event and volunteer coordination, and some staff supervision. The COO also works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to maintain positive community relationships, assist with fundraising and membership drives, and continue to grow and improve our community center.

RVCC Description
Founded in 2000, Rockfish Valley Community Center (RVCC) is a membership-based 501(c)(3) charitable organization serving our 900 members, the residents of Nelson County, Virginia and surrounding areas.
Our mission is to provide—on a non-profit basis—a facility for cultural, recreational, social, and educational events. RVCC encourages activities that promote and provide opportunities for people of all ages to experience physical, social, intellectual, and cultural growth and development. To that end, we offer a broad spectrum of programs and activities.
The Center is wholly supported through Annual Fund and Membership Drives, revenue from the Treasure Chest thrift store and Rockfish Gallery & Gifts, short-term room rentals and long-term space leasing, community breakfasts, indoor markets, fundraising campaigns, concerts and other events, as well as grants.
Responsibilities
- General office functions: keeping open office hours, answering calls & emails, greeting visitors, adhering to a filing system.
- Educate visitors about RVCC’s mission, history, campus, programs, and resident businesses.
- Recruit & lead volunteers for RVCC activities.
- Procure supplies for office, janitorial services, Gallery, Treasure Chest, Building & Grounds, and other projects as needed.
- Maintain long-term tenant relations & leasing.
- Work with CEO to develop new partnerships and project proposals, and help identify additional ways for RVCC to engage with the community.
- RVCC Event Coordination: lead staff and volunteers in the planning, coordination, set up, and promotion of all RVCC events.
- Ensure proper building functions and adherence to all applicable health, safety, and fire codes. Coordinate with Building & Grounds volunteers and contractors to address problems.
- Assist the event coordinator with onsite needs of event rentals.
- Assist with RVCC membership management & development.
- Assist with marketing & social media.
- Assist CEO with staff management.
- Assist with oversight of RVCC’s resident retail programs (Treasure Chest Thrift Store, Rockfish Gallery & Gifts.)
- Assist with IT support & Website Maintenance.
- Miscellaneous other duties as required.
