What’s Happening at Rockfish Valley Community Center This July

Summer is in full swing at Rockfish Valley Community Center, and July is packed with opportunities to learn something new, support local businesses, meet your neighbors, and spend time together as a community.

Whether you’re looking for family activities, wellness classes, local theater, volunteer opportunities, or simply a great pancake breakfast, something is happening nearly every week.

Summer Theater Camp

The Rising Curtain Community Theater Summer Camp is underway, bringing young performers together for three weeks of creativity, confidence-building, and fun. This year’s production of *The Princess and the Pea* gives local actors ages 7–14 the chance to experience every part of putting on a live performance.

Programs like this continue to make RVCC a place where young people can discover new interests while building lasting friendships.

Community Favorites Return

Our monthly Pancake Breakfast continues to be one of the most popular community traditions at RVCC. It’s a chance to gather around the table, enjoy a hearty breakfast, and catch up with neighbors.

This event is made possible entirely by volunteers. If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, even for just a few hours, we’d love to have you join us. No cooking experience required, and breakfast is a pretty nice perk.

The Treasure Chest Thrift Store will also be holding its popular 50% Off Sale, making it the perfect time to hunt for bargains while supporting the community center.

Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind

July also offers several opportunities to focus on wellness.

Strength & Yin Yoga combines functional strength training with restorative yoga, creating a balanced morning of movement and recovery.

Later in the month, Greg Burns returns with his Candlelight Sound Bath Meditation, offering an evening dedicated to deep relaxation through immersive sound and vibration.

Whether you’re looking to build strength, reduce stress, or simply slow down for an hour, these classes provide welcoming spaces for all experience levels.

Learning Through Community

One of the things we love most about RVCC is seeing neighbors come together to share knowledge.

This month includes a Friends of Nelson Community Conversation focused on creating a more dementia-friendly Nelson County, along with another session of the popular Ecology & Embodiment series. Participants explore the connections between people, place, and the natural world through guided outdoor experiences, movement, and seasonal observation.

These programs remind us that community learning doesn’t stop when school ends.
