Creative Dance with Melissa Tremblay
Beginning 9/20/22, Tuesdays 6-7:30 pm, in the Imaginarium.
Cost: $50 for 5 classes, or $12 drop in fee.
Anne Green Gilbert, a pioneer in creative dance education, defines creative dance as combining the mastery of movement with the artistry of expression. In our dance class we will explore ways of moving in a safe, non-judgmental space. The objective is freedom to discover unique ways of moving that are appropriate for our own bodies and to rediscover the joy of moving.
Having taught creative dance and dance technique to all ages in studio settings as well as public schools and workshops at dance conferences, I am excited to share what I have learned about development of dance skills and creative expression. This class is tailored for all body types and abilities and is designed to be accessible to all. We seek to gain control of our bodies while gaining skills to express ourselves creatively. Each class will be structured to include a warm-up, exploration of a movement concept, skill development, time for creating, and cooling down.
Dance is transformational. I believe if everyone danced together, the world would be better for it. I could go on and use words to promote the class, but as Isadora Duncan is quoted as saying, “If I could explain, I wouldn’t need to dance!” So please come and discover what is waiting just for you!
